I am installing a M52 vanos 2.8 engine into my '92 325is.
I will be keeping my transmission.

I will get a lightweight flywheel that goes with the block.

But for the clutch, Do I get the 325is clutch or the 2.8 M52 clutch kit?
Does the clutch goes in accordance with the transmission you put in?
I am guessing yes.

I am under the impression that the E36 325, 328, and M3 trannys are functionally interchangeable (on the engine side). (328 and M3 should be the same part) If that is the case, the input shaft dimensions and splines should be the same, so you should just pick whichever clutch matches the flywheel and has the most capacity.

Well, the input shaft is the same p/n on 323i, 320i, 325i (E36, E46, Z3) but a different part# on the 328i an M3...

this is another weird problem.
