Auto Tranny Refill Question

Just serviced the tranny in my '90 535 (4HP22). Bently says 3.2 qts to refill. Took the car on a nice 30 minute drive - everything seemed OK. Checked the fluid level with the car running and in park - the fluid doesn't even show on the dipstick. How much fluid should it take???

It should be there... wipe dipstick real clean... then reinsert fully and pull back out. It should be at the level where the dipstick said

some times it may take a bit more fluid mattering on the previous level and how long it had a chance to drain. My 5hp18 was supposed to take 3 qts but in reality took almost 5...big difference.

I had similar experience as Jeff, after taking the drain nut out, it seems to keep draining. So, I let it drain, finally got tired of letting it drain and put the plug back in. I did measure what came out, though, and only put an amount equal to the removed tranny fluid back in. Definately more than 3 quarts, closer to 4.
