I'm getting ready to do the great suspension/steering rebuild on my 1990 535. The rear M-Tech springs have a rubber sleeve covering 3 coils on one end of the shock. Is this the top? Bottom? Does it matter?

Thanks!

youll bounce and never be able to take a corner again... close springs belong towards axle. coated? towards axle....sure why not.

Top it is! Finished the front and rear strut/shock work yesterday - new mounts, spring pads and dog bones. Also did all control arms. Will finish the tie rods today. Learned alot - especially that clamshell-type spring compressors are the best!!!

Cheers!
