It's been very short, and somewhat sweet. My car will be leaving my garage. It has found a new home. One who will have the time to keep her in running order. Why am I selling it? Read below:

1. $100 New headlight
2. $200 New fog lights
3. $500 All new hoses, thermostat and radiator
4. $400 New exhaust
5. $400 In electronics repairs (locks were all bad)
6. $400 New Gas tank

Total = $2,000 in three months. Too much! Think of all of the performance upgrades that would have paid for. Going to miss you guys, as I will now be part of the Audi forums, as I have purchased a new A4 Quattro. :)

warped rotors $1600

cv boots and joints $250 a side.

same headache, different car.

Versus 2004 vehicle: 48 month note, $6,000 a year in payments, $1,800 in full coverage = $7,800 a year.

If you knew that your $2,000 repair bill bought you 17,000 more miles with only gas and insurance, wouldn't you have kept your car?

Wish we had some kind of general fund where people pitch-in so many dollars a month that would be in reserve for situations like this to help out those extremely costly repairs. Just utopia kinda of thinking. Maybe in a 100 yrs or so we can be live like in ST: Next Gen... no hunger, no poverty, no greed...

Marc, happy trails... and take care. Stay in touch if you wish.

Dude, you bailed too soon..you replaced most of the stuff that goes wrong at that mileage. Thing is, you wouldnt have to replace them for another 100Km. What part of buying a 12 tear old car with that many miles on it made you think the purchase price would be the end of it?

It's a classic example of knowing what to look for and the car's history. The guy who had it before you dumped the trouble in your wallet. Whoever gets it from you, will think it's a great car because you fixed everything.

Good luck with you Audi. I hope you have better luck than I did.

...I had been looking at 2003/2004 CPO'd A6's not long ago myself. I've always loved the way they look, and found the prices on the CPO'ed model especially competitive, too. I will say that the factor(s) which ultimately steered me away from them was their poor customer satisfaction ratings and far less-than-average reliability ratings. Not sure if either are also apparent in the new A4's, but regardless--I wish you luck.

You're right though--you'll find no better a second car than a 14 year old bimmer. IMHO, it's sometimes tough having them as your only car.

Probably, but the head is now warped and the brakes need to be changed

No, I had a mechanic look at it before I bought it. I wanted to do the work myself, but it was like a domino effect, as I fixed something, I found more wrong with it. I took off the head last night to machine it and allow it sit right and noticed that the cams were scored.....

Mr. Bill, I've owned some 30 cars in my life. No way that I could have known about the blockage in the rad which lead to the majority of the expense. I bought a new car because I'm too old to to be broken down on the freeway....
