'94 5225ia, M50TU. I get a real noticable vibration under the hood somewhere, guarenteed, when the car is at operating temp, in gear, stopped at a light (so my foot is on the break too......) That combination brings it on... It sounds like it's coming from around the pulleys at the front of the engine... I've taken off the A/C belt, still comes. I've taken off the main belt and hand checked all the pulleys - none are grossly loose (not axis of rotation, other way) but the tensioner moves the slightest little bit, as does the device from the top of the alternator that routes the belt up to the fan pulley. Could this slightest little transverse play migrate into the passenger compartment when stopped in gear and idling at 700 or so rpm?? Can I run the car a bit at idle WITHOUT the main belt to see if I still get the noise/vibration? I'm thinking to just replace the belt tensioner and engine/tranny mounts. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks. Rob.
