I just replaced the '89 535iA, 170K miles, with a '90 535i 5-speed with 139K. The car has a recent clutch, 4 new tires, new brakes, and new shocks. I am going to replace the upper and lower control arms, but otherwise the car is excellent.
The manual is significantly faster, and faster still with the chip I just installed. Anyway, I have some pics. What do you think?
