33, 1993 540i 13 months.

But then there was the dodgy '94 525i (crashed, repaired, on BMW dealer fourcourt with a "no accident" history) that I had for a couple of months and 7000 miles. Got my money back on that one, in full, after a huge argument with the dealer principal.

And after that there was the E38 730i I ran for four years and 80k miles. Had 160k on it when I sold it, and is still going strong on over 180k.

I don't think about the running costs - it would drive me mad...

I'm 51 and I've had my '89 525i (build date 12/88) for 13 years,7 months and 260,000 kilometres.

Still have '83 E30 323i bought in 1991 - has about 280,000 km.

May last year we bought '93 540i which had 130,000km and now has 160,000km.

I intend to buy sooner rather than later a '94-'95 530i or 540i

47 years old (I still don't believe it) had my current toy for 16 months. The E30 was an amazing machine, E28 was going to take some beating, E34 as you age you feel you need more refinement in you life (yeah, that's why I got a V8), will probably skip the E39, E60 has possibilities.

Interestingly, the Touring is back in my driveway this week, as my nephew (who bought it) is staying with us until they close on their new house on Friday. Oh, and I'm doing a brake job on it this weekend as well...... So it's still sort of mine.....
