they screwed the pooch on the sugar in the gas tank, they said it was busted, ********!!! i've rebuilt a couple motors that were sugered/coke'd, the suger coated everything and eventially a couple valves stuck down and got nailed by the piston (on a normally non interfearence volvo b230 motor) i was able to salvage the short block but the head was toast

you can always contest the sugar in gas tank thing.....if you say its a problem, they will probably do it over in the season ending "disputed" episode. i haven't seen it yet, but i don't have anything to do early tomorrow, so i'll watch it at 12.

it caramelizes around moving parts and stops them, the motor just running on a pallet may not of been run long enough for proper build up, may not of been hot enough without load if didn't even have a flywheel just a ring gear
