View Full Version : I did the UNTHINKABLE to my 535i...

I rotated the tires (front to rear, rear to front), against the advice and wishes of Munich.

But, they are very soft tires and the fronts were wearing on the outsides and the rear were wearing on the inside. Seemed like a no-brainer way to prolong the life of my Yoko AVS Intermediates.

I cannot tell any difference in "braking effectiveness."

I agree...why not if they are the same size.

My independent mechanic, which is an IAIBMWSP member shop, rotated my tires in an X cross pattern. Seems to work fine for me! Note, these are regular 225/60-15 tires (Pirelli P6000 sport veloce) and not unidirectional ones.

Do you have the tramlining effect since you put the uneven tires to the front?

i wouldn't worry about it too much =]
its just a title =]

tech response is that the forum script needs minimum
post counts and when u hit a predetermined (by the admin)
post number your title changes...
so lets say it was at 80 yesterday, then today they changed
it to 100....or maybe a thread of yours was deleted....

Because the front and rears on BMW's wear much differently so if you rotate you may have handling problems. Also now you'd have a tire that has a different wear pattern from the suspension increasing the rate the tire wears..

No other ill effects that I can discern.
