as some of you know i am putting a m30 into a e30.

I found a 1988 635csi motor with only 90k from a great running car.

To clear the e30 subfame I need to use a e34 oil pan. But, I know (at leat on the e28, and I suspect the e24) that the "older" oil pump pick up will not clear the e34 pan.

Most people swap in a e34 oil pump to solve that prolbem, but those buggars are pricy ($290?)

Does anyone know if you can just change the "pick up" of the pump?

How does it attach?

Any help here guys?

Thanks!

Gorge Graves

Not the answer to your question, but let me know if you need the E34/M30 oil pan. I sent you an email and a PM, but have not heard back from you.

Thanks!

Bret.

i've never tried swapping pick up's. the m30 oiling system is a damned if you do damned if you don't type of thing, the early stuff had a crappy relief valve in the pump and a good filter housing, and the later stuff has a good pump and a crappy filter housing check valve
