Sharkster...my only comment would be to make sure it is the sunroof motor that is failing. Have heard of many that thought their sunroof motor was ailing only to learn it was a dirty switch that was adding resistance to the circuit, depriving the motor of needed current draw. As a result, there have been those that have needlessly replaced their sunroof motors only to find out it was simply a dirty switch.
I recently cleaned my sunroof switch and it completely restored motor function that had degraded making me think initially the brushes or windings on the motor were spent.
FYI,
George

could someone explain how to do the switch cleaning??!!

What I found is that if I hold the open close button while cranking the roof with the allen key, after 15-20 times it will start to work flawlessly.
then after an hour it will just stop again, or move in little spurts.

is it the motor or switch??!! hhhmmmmmmm. million dollar question!

squirt some contact cleaner into the switch and or motor and work it, sometimes that does the trick without dissassembly

Chris....I responded to your e-mail. Personally, I would disassemble the switch and clean it that way with contact cleaner. Be sure to let the parts dry before reassembling. The other thing is, your motor may be out of sync.
After cleaning the switch, try this:

There maybe another procedure out there in the archives.
