Hi, i've got a set of remotec alloy wheels which are 10" wide by 17" , the front tyres are 235, 40, 17s....

they're on a 93 525, which i now want to lower by about 1.5" all round (all the wheels are this size). Who thinks it's going to rub?

Thanks folks :D

1) rim is too wide for that tire. also you should find out the offset of the wheel. if you insist on using that wheel, you'll need a 255/40 tire, if not wider.

2) a ten inch wide wheel can fit in the rear - may require spacer rings and rolling of the fender wells.

3) for the front, a nine inch wheel is about the max using a 245 and some 255/40 tires (some 255/40 tires are too wide)

lowering the car is fine- just get the proper shocks and springs. a negative camber plate may help wheelwell lip clearance.

I think if he goes with 255 in the rear, he'll have problems too- I wouldn't do it, anyways. I had 17x9.5 with 255 in the rear, and with a minor drop in height, it would rub on harsh bumps. 17x8.5 with 235 works fine so far.
