Rattle Under Load

My 93 525i has had a little rattle for a while now, and I may have it checked out this week by a pro. Of course, I thought I'd check here first.

At idle, the car is smooth, but when I accelerate, especially up a hill, I get a rattle from the front end of the car. It also only happens when the engine is warnmed up. It will not rattle unless the car is in gear (i.e., I can't replicate the sound in my driveway).

I know it's not the T/O bearing, as I had this happen and it sounded differently. Could this be a heat shield (but wouldn't that rattle when not in gear also)?

I'm at a loss here. Anyone have any experiences like this?

check your flex guibo and driveshaft support bearing. Easiest way is to lift the car, and see how much you can shake the driveshaft. If there's any loose play in it, the support bearing is shot. You can visibly inspect the flex guibo for cracking.
