like the one you used in the diff seal procedure from bmwe34.net. if its easy to get (sears, autozone) and cheap, i'll get it instead of using the bolt head and vice grips on it.

Sears had some pretty big ones when I bought my 17mm that I didn't need.

Ditto... check with Sears online to see who has it near your area.

good to hear that sears carries it. my diff is growling in city traffic now, and i need to change the fluid post haste! i hope that it isn't leaking, i looked underneath it yesterday and its caked with old grease. i guess it would be better if its leaking than if its dying, the leaking i can fix....

Diff are strong thing... so it should be okay... as long it is not extended autobahn speed.

Bolt with vicegrips might work better due to clearances.

Buy a key, then use a sawzall and goggles for about 30 secs.

Cut off about 1 inch of allen key, then use a box or open end wrench to turn it.

super ace... it has virtually any kind of unusual bolt and nut hardware you could want.. and they have the various size allens in singles. And then i used a bench grinder to shorten the short end enough to fit. easily
