I wrecked my 1992 w/auto trans (good motor) and have recently purchased a 1990 w/manual trans (bad motor). What kinds of issues may I encounter transfering the engine from the newer car into the older one? I was worring that the manual transmission in the older car will not mate to the "newer" engine. Might this be one of my potential problems?
You guys were great when I had my 1st e34 and I hope you will be equally great to me now.
Thanks, Chuck

the m20 and m50 have the same bellhousing bolt pattern, i am not sure about the difference of the amount of tilt of the motor, you may need to tweek the shifter and tranny mounts to deal with a slight change in how the tranny sits, i've not done that swap, i have put a e36 318i close ratio 5 speed into my e30 325ism as a experament and i had to twist the selector rod a little to get the shifter to sit straight, it worked fine but i missed not having a overdrive so i sold it as a package (with the low gearing of the tranny it came off the line like a bat outta hell but 4k at around 70 was a bit much) the m50 has less tilt then a m42 so you shouldn't have to bad of the time hooking it to a m20 tranny
