Doing a little bit of digging, found out that BMW made their common corporate column design change in 10/90. My car has a build date of 3/90.
Anybody know if the '97 M3 air-bag wheel will bolt up to a pre 10/90 column?
This wasn't an issue for Jr or any of the pre-'93 M5's that owners retrofitted to the M3 air-bag wheel as all E-34 M5's were built post 10/90. But heard that there may be an issue adapting a pre 10/90 column to the '97 M3 air-bag wheel.
Thanks...if anybody knows,
George

you would need the column from the later car, they went from a 22mm nut to a 18mm (i think) bolt and the hole size is different, it should drop right in, i can't remember for sure if you can install your lock cylinder into the later streering lock assy or not, i think you can
