95 540i Engine oil pressure message comes on but all seems normal?
Any help appreciated.

Hi,

I don't know if there is a check valve issue on the V8 canisters but on the M30 engine, the check valve fails sometimes and allows the canister of oil to completely drain out into the block. When you start up again after the car has sat for a few hours, it takes time to fill the can back up before pressure builds.

That causes a "Engine Oil Pressure" warning. Replacing the canister cured it, but again, I don't know if your engine has a similar design or not.

It's easy to check - before you start the car, open up the filter chamber and see if it's dry. If it is, that's probably the culprit.
