View Full Version : Sunroof seal, is it just glued on?

I'm redoing my headliner and stuff, while removing the sunroof panels (double sunroof), I noticed the seal around it was loose in the corners. Looks like it could use replacing. Looks like the same seal is on the back of the front sunroof panel.

Is this just glued on? That's what it looks like to me. Anyone know what the deal is with this.

Here's what I'm talking about (yeah, my clearcoat is scratched all to hell...)

the gasket is actually pressed on from the underside of the panel. The gasket has metal reinforcements in the rubber, which sort of clap to the edge of the panel, for lack of a more technical way to describe it. There may be a slight amount of glue in places. The last time I bought a sunroof gasket was for my 85 745i (greymarket), which has the same sunroof as the e23 7 series, and it was quite expensive, like $120. Hope it's not still like that. I need to order one for my 750 as we speak!

already done ,then carefully remove the seal and all traces of the old adhesive then glue the new one on. As seen here

Thanks Bill, even tells me what adhesive to use!
