Hi,
I just noticed that the electronic odometer on my E34 is jumping all over the place.
The trip meter is accurate but the odometer went from 179800 to 179812 km then it jumped another 10 k's then subtracked 3 k's then jumed another 12 k's etc. In an 8 km trip it added 31 kilometers to the odometer. But the trip meter functions correctly.
I just commented to the wife the other day that it has been 34000 since the last oil service. Thought it was too good to be true.
I suspect that this fault has added about 26,000 kilometers to the odometer. the odo was good last service.

Any help would be good.
Thanks
Tony

My '89 535 had 84k miles on it when I bought it, 2+ years ago. It is at 82k these days. It would get to 85k under seemingly normal operation, then the next time the car is started, it would revert back to 84,000. Honestly, it imparts a serious warm fuzzy as most of the car that shows wear has been renewed.

cause of faulty capacitors. Could very well be capacitors causing that problem, too. See http://www.bmwe34.net
