Ok I am already getting fed up with my 95 525i! I am having issues with the air flow into my engine. I took my air flow meter off today and cleaned it with electrical cleaner. That didn’t help at all, the engine still has a huge loss of power and when I hit the gas it hesitates, sputters until you get up to 3k rpms. So I pulled it apart again to look at it and noticed that the butter fly flap that is suppose to open and close to let the air into the engine ( I think it is meant to open and close with the throttle??) is stuck open?? Is it suppose to be open all the time and not move when you hit the gas? I can move it by hand but other than that it wont move even when its all assembled because I can see the cable that pulls it open and closed, and it doesn’t move??? Please help me! I also noticed that the engine is putting out a code of 1215 which is AIR FLOW METER, but I don’t think that’s it because the butterfly flap isn’t even moving???

It is some sort of booster pump that aids in getting the warm fluid to your heater.

where are you located, maybe a fellow E34 owner can spare his AFM for a test.
