has any one ever put 3 way speakers in the kick panel and rear deck?
I was given two sets of High End Eclipse 5 1/4" 3 way speakers...
Will it sound better or worse in my 92' 535?

Do you have the 10-speaker Hi-Fi option?

Main problem is that the existing drivers are too small for powerful bass reproduction and there is no power in the amp either. Replacing them will not change this equation to any real amount.

If you have the integrated 4-channel amp & active crossover module in the rear quarter panel and 2 Nokia 2-ways on the rear parcel shelf mounted in a plastic rectangular housing. Their limitations are just low-end, without a doubt, the best option is to add a subwoofer and a bigger amp, remove the amp part of the amplifier and wire in your own 5 channel amp into both the subwoofer and the crossover in the amp. By doing this you don't have to mess with the wires going to each of the 10 drivers, as they are already neatly wired to the existing module. You can drive the Nokias to incredible levels without distortion (I used a big 100Wx5 under the parcel shelf), because the bass is mostly handled by the subwoofer which you need to attenuate/tune by adjusting the gain/cut-offs on the amp. The SPL is unbelievable in this configuration- using the factory drivers plus the factory crossover the sound is better than almost anything I've heard.

If one of the factory drivers dies, you can always replace it with a substitute 2/3 way driver but it any differences will be minimal in comparison to what can be by doing the above, it turns the e32/34 into a mobile concert hall.

If you dont have the 10-speaker system, the wiring is already there, just find an old 535 at the breaker, grab the amp, door card tweeters, rear deck speakers, and the fader, everything else is the same IIRC.
