Hello, fellow E34er's. Well, looks like the time has finally come after 16 years and almost 200,000 miles with me. My car's automatic transmission gave me the TRANS PROG message and then all neutrals a couple weeks ago, at about 274,000 miles. The engine only has 69,000 miles since its complete, professional overhaul. All else works well, even the double sunroof which has never failed me since I faithfully cleaned and lubed it (silicone) twice a year. One small, 2 inches rip in a driver's seat seam, and nothing else, upholstery wise. Clear coat is eroding in a spot on the rear of the roof. It's a San Diego car since brand new, so very mild weather, no rust, etc. A 50 miles/day freeway commuter for most of my ownership, so easy miles there. Body is in excellent shape, no dents, etc. In boxes, planned for installation someday, I have fresh rear hatch window struts and rubber grommets, thrust arms, and a full set of OEM headlights, since one of the originals works great but has a small rock hole, and the adjuster screws don't like adjusting anymore. All synthetic oil changes and it burns maybe one quart every 4-5,000 miles or so. These Tourings are few and far between, and I have been a picky owner, so I don't want to just donate or sell it to just anyone. How best to find a good, responsible next owner? Pop in a transmission and away you go. My wife, for some totally mysterious, surprising reason none of us would understand, wants something newer than 24 years old. Thanks very much!!
