I had a stuck oil pan and no matter what I tried I could not remove it. Finally I manage to get a putty knife to slide in about an inch between the seal and the block. Bending the putty knife down I slid a wooden wedge (shim) between the knife and the block. I then removed the putty knife, Installed the wedges in all four corners and then tapped the wedges along the long edges of the pan. This technique dropped the pan in less than 10 minutes. Early today I spend an hour trying to shock the pan with a rubber mallet and gently prying but had no luck. Nice thing about the wooden wedges is there is no scratching of the block and they are long and thin so there is no distortion of the pan. I bought the wooden wedges (shim) at Lowes they are used to level cabinets or adjust door frames etc. ~$2.00 USD and about 5 bucks for the putty knife.
