Hey Guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

Ive been into the bimmers for a little while, however i did start off with a 16v Jetta GTX for 4 years and $8000 worth of upgrades.

The got bored with FWD and picked up 91 318is DS Black. Full kitted sport interior bmw mechanic owned and loved. Everything was dialed when I got it with 208,000km on it. Let the passion begin.

3 years into ownership and loving the car, I found a e30 Touring and sold the 318is to a gf of mine who lived next door so I could buy the wagon. I immediately swapped the autobox out for the 5 speed and 3.73 LSD. Magic!

Loved this car to bits, but also missed the 318is to death for its accelleration and cornering. Yes the wagon was more utilitarian for my needs but **** was this car fun to drive. The next day my gf comes into my shop and says she blew up the engine and is scrapping the car. I offer her $1000 and take the car back blown engine or not. I fix it for $2.73 and drive it for another 6 months before i replace the entire suspension and put a newer motor in it when it hit 300,000km.

Then along comes a guy with a 530 touring swapped with a 4l V8 and 6speed, who hates the gas mileage and wants a smaller wagon. I trade him straight across, his 94 540i/6 for my 88 325i.

Oh joy how i love the v8, passing people in 5th gear going uphill. amazing car. after 6 months of ownership some random guy shows up at my door, the day after i pulled the 530 badge and put a 540i badge on the back and offers me more money than i expected to get for it. Sold. Now Im back to the e30, which has just been sold to purchase a 525 touring with an inch thick pile of bmw dealer reciepts over the last 15 years. car only has 230,000kms on it. Back to wagon life and couldnt be more thrilled. I just need a 5 speed swap asap.

So, Hi guys. look forward to digging into your e34 wealth.

Welcome to the forum! Now tell us the $2.73 fix?

long story short, rad fell off rad mounts, hit fan, fan blade breaks and hits lower coolant line causing a pin hole leak in rubber pipe. kept driving to city (one hour) car drains of coolant, overheats and blows the pressure relief cap on rad so not to crack the head/block) car is making clackity clack clack sounds like it blew a rod or something. she pulled it into a midas and parked it and walked away.

I towed the car to my house and looked at it. Saw the hose was cut, $2.73 was the price of the grommet to splice the line back. Re bled the system like 10 times, drives like new. i put another 30,000k on that motor before replacing it. M42's rule!
