Looking for any info I can get on how to wire an aftermarket stereo into the factory dash wiring of an E30.

From my research so far, I've determined that there apparently aren't any wiring harness adapters available for the E30 like there are for the E34 and E32. I've spent hours researching this and have only found either instructions which don't really make much sense, or suggestions to re-wire the entire thing which I really don't want to do at the moment.

There are seven wires in the dash, two of which seem to go to the in-dash fader (and probably wouldn't be used), and then five others. I assume one of them is for the power antenna, another for constant power, and one other for ground, leaving one each for the front and rear speakers which would limit fade to front and rear only. I'm not great with wiring diagrams.

Just need to know which of the wires on the head unit go to which of the dash wires. I know I'll probably have to cut off the factory connectors to accomplish this.

Thanks.

Eric

That may. One of the links you provided indicates that you have to back beyond the fader wiring to get to the pos/neg speaker wiring. Must not be attached directly to the stock radio but to the fader instead. I'll have to pull the radio out and do a little hunting.

Thanks.
