Hi

My 89 535i is probably about to be written off as a result of being rear ended at the traffic lights so I've bought a 93 540i to replace it. The light in the 540's trip computer doesn't work so am wondering if it would be easy enough to swap the trip computer from the 535 into the 540?

cheers
Nigel.

it might work, but wouldn't it be easier to swap the light bulbs just to be sure?

Thats right the computer will fit but might need reprograming to be accurate just swap the bulbs and you will know it will be right

oh, wondered about that, is it easy enough to change the bulb? - wasn't sure if it was accessible?

cool,thanks very much for that.
replacing shocks, all fluids, thermostat etc out at the mo but should be on the road again shortly. 540i has done roughly 200000kms and has a recently rebuilt gearbox and new radiator. Body, paintwork and interior in good nick for a 1993 car. I'd wager it's a Nikasil engine but it's still going so fingers crossed N.Z fuel hasn't caused it any issues.
The 89 535 is being written off, shame I liked that car but it had about 500000kms on it reputedly.

So, the m30b35 is good for around 450,000 miles, so in kms you still have more to go.

yep, would've kept it but the rear end damage is too much to repair economically, shame really.
