When i bought the car, which is an 88' 535i, the door had got stuck locked.

The previous owner managed to get it open and said something about the deadlock being stuck...

But now, the door is stuck open and when I try to lock it from my drivers door, all other doors lock with the central locking but the drivers one does nothing.

Have the door card off at the moment and need to get it fixed before I can drive the car as my daily.

Any ideas at all, the lever which attaches to the pin at the top of the door won't move at all to engage manually when pushed..

Thanks alot

Liam.

Look up the TIS for clues. If the microswitch is working okay (other doors lock with the key et al) then it is probably a mechanical fault. But look first for correct operation of the interior handle- if it is disconnected, badly linked, jammed, it will cause such trouble. The entire outer door handle, if it is faulty comes out easily enough and practice makes it less painful to do. Small hands are a bonus of course, and knowing the procedure (research BMW E34 5 series Website (http://www.bmwe34.net) and SpaghettiCoder (http://www.spaghetticoder.org) for the steps)... If replacing anything, beware that pre 10/88 cars had different central locking modules/wiring.
