Back in early 90's when I studied industrial design, it came up that prototypes could be printed in 3D using polymers and light, layer by layer. The technology has since then evolved quite a bit, and you can buy your own 3D printer, little did I know, for around $300 apparently. Metals and polymer. No word on the material costs, but you can imagine the possibilities for us.
