View Full Version : Motronic 1.3 made my car run only to 1500 RPM? Why?

Hello,

I gave my car to my mechanics and when going for MOT after 30 minutes drive he said the car would not run above 1500RPM... Is he ********ing me?

I read www.opel-scanner.com/files/DME_1.1_1.3.pdf and can't find an answer.

It happened once. What would make the car run like that? I could not repeat the fault. It never happened to me.

I'd hazard a guess that the throttle position sensor signal was wonky. Why? Who knows, maybe said mechanic left something undone.

I'm asking about the chip. What makes the Motronic 1.3 chip goes into max 1500 RPM?.

the throttle position is indeed one possiblity. the document on Motronic 1.3 i have simply states "restricted engine operation" when TS fails. I guess that's the 1500 RPM.

What car is it? e34 535?

Probably the big question is... what did he do to it?

Is it automatic? Perhaps the trans is blown. The tranny computer, when problems are going on, may be able to retard throttle (or fuel/air/spark) via the ECU. I know it does exactly that on later (M50) motronic, in addition to changing problems.
