EC mirror off a 95 540i

Just picked up what seems to be an EC mirror for a 10/94 build date 1995 bmw 540i. It only has a sold black bulb under the mirror that will rotate left/right to the typical 0 and 1 (on/off) markings on the front side.

I see no other markings on the front. Nothing I can see on the glass. The rear has no sensor that I can see. There is a small removable(?) black panel on one corner.

I also has a 10 pin connector, not a three pin. I cut the wiring from the vehicle to get all of the connector and part of the wiring harness.

Could not find a part number. What do I have here? it was on a stock 95 540i. The last digits of vin are gf32315.

I had the 10 pin connector. I plugged the mirror in and nothing? It looked and acted the same as the standard mirror. The 0 and I knob jusr moved it to the anti-glare position, apparently not off and on. My manual mentions on page 26 the the gradual darkening anti-glare rearview mirror and stated to keep the photocell clean. Where is that located. If on the mirror i canot see it. I am still not sure what I have. Apparently it is not working

If there´s no sensor/photocell on the back, its not an auto darkening mirror!

Bo525i, I believe you are correct. I think this is a manual 540i mirror with remote infrared remote control. The 540i used a ignition key with built in IR security control. I was fooled by the 10 pin wiring. it appears I can use a e38 EC mirror with the 10 pin wiring. I know more now after search the fourms and web. :)
