Timing Chain tensioner

OK, so how difficult is it to replace one of these bad boys? They aren't that expensive. Trying to address the constant ticking in the engine. I've changed oil once, and although some of this takes time, I'm in Germany and don't have access to some of the chemicals like Seafoam that might cure the problem if it actually is carbon/sludge buildup.

I've also heard that this might be a timing chain tensioner issue, and just wondering how much of a job it is to change one out. Haven't check Bentley's yet, and will do so, but also wondering what the "ground truth" on changing these things is too.

If you mean the lower or 'long chain' chain tensioner, it only takes a minute. The write up below tells you all you need to know. Except the socket size isnt 32mm (check yours) and you have to push the tensioner inwards while you turn the nut or it will not engage the threads in the block.
