I need a new rear muffler for my 525i Touring,.
I got a price from Stillwell's here in Melbourne... $1058 AUD... ouch!!

BMA Parts have this Eberspaecher muffler...

EBERSPAECHER Muffler,BMW057463 - BMA Auto Parts (http://www.bmaparts.com/item.wws?clientid=bmaparts&Sku=BMW057463&mfr=EBERSPAECHER&sup=IMC&cookieID=3810EWQES3810F6571)

Muffler $277.80
USPS Priority Mail International (6-10 days): $163.65
Total $441.45 USD or around $416.00 AUD

My question is are Eberspaecher mufflers okay quality wise?
I don't want to have to replace it again in three years!

I have the full Eberspaecher rear section on mine. I bought it second hand about 18months ago for £30. It came off a later car and the front box is smaller than my old one. But the hangers are in the right place, it fitted fine and sounds good. I'd say they are pretty good quality and decent gauge steel. I've known cheap exhausts only last two years

Yeah, I think they are the OEM? It came with a paper that said it was originally for the 535 I think, but that it replaces the 525 and is better and bigger than the original (or something like that). I got my last muffler from BMA about 2 years ago and it's been fine. Make sure to order new hangers - you probably need them too.

Eberspaecher is OE for BMW and Mercedes... their mufflers last for a decade or more.

Pulled the trigger on the Eberspaecher muffler from BMA.
With the Aussie dollar now at $1.07 US why the local price is 3x the US price is beyond belief AFAIC.
It seems just a few years ago the AUD was nudging $0.50 USD.

It won't be much longer before all you guys in the US will be paying European prices for fuel... $8 plus per gallon!.
Prepare yourselves!
