I am writing to let those of you that have missed prior correspondence regarding the usage of after market transmission filter kits. After four days of testing I finally feel confident to make this statement.
Do not use after market transmission filter kits in your 5hp30 tranny!
The result is an awful sounding noise (I would compare the sound to a noisy speed-o cable) coming from the tranny upon take-off. The noise has something to do with the o-ring supplied with the filter kits. (see prior thread with info provide by Bill R. - http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?p=11459&highlight=o-ring )
Need-less-to-say, I put a OEM filter kit in this past weekend and the noise immediately disappeared. :) Thanks Bill!
