Ok guys does anyone have a illustration of what components are assembled into the strut. Here is a pic from BMWFANS that shows a spacer (part #9). Question is does it go on top the strut cartridge (red arrow) and in the canister or does it go on top the canister nut (blue arrow)?

I know last year I found a picture of a washer that placed on the strut but is not shown in this illustration. This is very confusing bumpers no bumpers, washers no washers.

If I recall that (#9) spacer drops into strut housing after you place the shock into the tube. That spacer keeps the shock centered and prevents any lateral movement. It should just drop in. Then screw the strut cap on. Note: the strut cap needs to screwed ALL the way down which cam be hard on older models considering corrosion on the threads. If you don't have a work bench vise to hold the strut, try a 2 pipe wrenches.
one to hold the strut in place and the other to screw the cap on.

Wonder if that is the reason I still have bounce in my front end after replacing all of the front end parts?
