Is there a source for how BMW electrical connectors lock and unlock? Specifically I was going to replace a leaking gasket for the oil level sending unit in the oil pan and did not see how to disconnect the electrical connection.

First of all I could not easily reach it with the plastic belly pan on and could not seem to pull it down enough to just remove the old gasket. I just thought i would wait (also get more info) until the next oil change and tackle it.

Thanks anyone/everyone.

Dealer or junkyard... they will cut out what you need.

that is the oil level sender side http://www.autohausaz.com/search/imageexpand.aspx?imageurl=../secure/PartImages/12611717394.jpg
and if you break that plug, BMW does not have it. I bought it from Bosch and Herth+Buss and the Pins from Hella, if you want to have the part numbers, read this thread, same question from helloball

the same plug is used on others spots in my 750, for example the Pentosin container level sensor. Of course that is also not available from the dealer but the cpl. sensor only, then the wire connection of oil level sensor next to the B+ pole, I got them all renewed, bought about 20 plugs, 50 pins and even the rubber boots in any configuarion, angled, straight etc.

I might make an offer of rare plugs and pins, I have plenty of boxes here, my favorite hobby to have them all in stock ;-)
