Gentleman, I have been on a journey for more than a year putting my 94 530i back together after a fried engine and body wiring harness and ABS pump. The harness I got was out of a 530 touring which is close but after all the connections I'm stuck in limp mode and these are the codes I pulled from the car.

Transmission fault code 30 solenoid valve 1
Fault code 33 solenoid valve 2
Fault code 32 solenoid valve 3
Fault code 31 solenoid valve 4
Fault code 2 p/n shift lock

Now when I look them up the results are:

Break in wiring
Short in wiring
Defective valve winding

I don't know where to start from here, I checked the wiring and it checks out. I'm not sure if there are any differences between the two harnes which can cause the error or any suggestions.

thanks for your help, much appreciated

As you have a 530 auto I'm guessing you have the A5S 310z. If so, did you check the resistances of said items at the EGS socket? Save you looking them up:
A5S 310Z Valve Body Resistance Nominal Values:
Resistances @ 20°C
Output Speed Sensor = 325Ω - +/- 40Ω
Input Speed Sensor = 325Ω - +/- 40Ω
NTC Sensor:
820Ω @ 0°C
962Ω @ 20°C
1118Ω @ 40°C
1289Ω @ 60°C
EDS1 = 5.9Ω - +/- 5Ω
MV1 = 28Ω
MV2 = 28Ω
MV3 = 28Ω
MV4 = 28Ω
MV5 = 28Ω
MV6 = 28Ω
Above MV Solenoid resistance values may vary up to 2Ω, dependant on
temperatures!
You will see the pinout in Bentleys though for mine the speed sensor wiring is wrong:D

Thanks for the direction, I'll start testing and see what happens
