Blimey, toys, pram etc. 7 members online may just mean 7 people like myself: an E34 enthusiast with next to feck-all in terms of technical knowledge.

And coming to somewhere like this, *expecting* replies and bitching when you don't get any is a bit rich. You emphatically won't win friends with that attitude.

maybe you didnt get an answer cause no one knew the answer off hand? Some people do have lives and dont frequent as much as would be wanted but if the question was posted and understandable there might be someone to chime in. Weekends are very slow here cause most people have lives...I dont but probably didnt know the answer you needed.

Besides all I see is a rant, not a reposting of your question so your answer is nil right now.

Did you check that heater valve as Winfred suggested? As I understand it there are two outlets, one for the passenger's side and one for the driver's side. Perhaps one of them is not moving properly and shutting off the flow of hot coolant when the heater switch is off.

I think your AC is completely dead. Take it to a BMW dealer, and tell them to do a rebuild of the AC, back to its original brand new condition. This is your only hope of fixing your AC at an affordable cost.

Thank you for your patience, and kind words.

Turned out that it was my whole AC system Evaporator, Expansion valve, Condensor/Drier and aux fan.

Total: $1800.00

I think that's why I was bitching, deep down I knew it would be expensive.

Brought this back after 2 years .... thats awesome. Any word on what caused your problem? I'd like to prevent that bill.

I think the previous owner crashed the car and damaged the receiver/drier and then let it sit.

Now I'm trying to fix my auxiliary fan, since I spent $400 on a new one. The &^%$heads at the Independent wouldn't guarantee the work if, as I suggested we put in a used fan, which I found at the junkyard for $100.

The fan never worked although I forgot to check since last summer was so hot I just ran into the house. I backburnered the whole A/C thing until a week ago. The A/C works and is cold but the engine knock under load when the A/C is on.

:(

The chance all said parts break at the same time is practically zero.
