I have been looking through my Hayes manual regarding this procedure, but it seems like they used an E34 for the instructions and diagram, and I have heard that you move remove suspension parts to actually replace this gasket.

Does anybody have a writeup or a DIY article retarding the M20 E34 cars and the replacement of the oil pan gasket? I'd like to do it myself, instead of spending $350 for my mech to do it..

My car is leaking about a quart per day if it's parked while facing up a hill, otherwise every week I have to put a quart in.

Are the bolts currently torqued properly? Might not even leak if you check and find a few were loose & leaking and fix it.

Yeap that is the ticket. I re-torqued mine and the leak stopped

In addition to tightening pan bolts, check oil pressure sensor for another leak source. Mine was leaking a lot around the wire connection lug, not by the threads. Tough to get at, but cheap part.
