Worked on my son's 735i today, cleaning and adjusting the crankshaft position sensor. Since there are no write up on how to remove, clean and adjust this jewel it took us about an hour. Most of the time was spent figuring out how to get to it and then how the adjustment was made. Amazingly the sensor had about an 1/8" of crud on it and it was about 1/4" from the toothed gear. All of the bolts and the special 5mm hex screw were loose. And yet the engine still ran. Unbelievable. Any way cleaned the sensor off and adjusted it down to 1mm from the gear. It runs awesome now and no rough idle.

yes, the M30 is the working horse for many BMW. Still a very good engine although it has been developed such a long time ago.
BTW:
just found the site of discount body parts for the tight budget DIYer

the search is a bit tricky there, so for example for your E32 735 better do not search for BMW e32, but BMW 88-94 and more pops up.
They even have distributors for $19.95, of course made in China and not Bremi or Bosch.
