hey fellas

My good friend
had a buffing machine and some good mothers polish and he couldn't stop himself from touching my e34 so i let him get onto it. Pics show the results, I just cant believe how white my car is again. There's still some residue left on the black trim so i gotta wipe em off tomoz.

That's some nice shine on there!

I need to get a buffer for mine, but I find it totally pointless to keep my car polished - in winter it rains hard water leaving scale all over the car, in summer the dusty car park means it wont go 2 minutes without getting a dust coat :(

Does your car have a sunroof or is that an North American only thing? Sort of like we get only leather seat options here and everyone else gets everything else like fabric.

Nice shiny Apline White you have there! :)

But looks like you need new door handle rubber set. They are easy to replace. Recently did my car.

Yeah my car is the Executive pack, Comes with leather seats with memory, elec sunroof, front arm rests, rear map lights, rear headrests, but mainly all e34s here are executive's so its nothing special here in Australia.

I did it last week, it was very simple with the right tools.

Pick Tool
Flat Head
Something with a hook so you can pull a lever thing back in place

You can use allen wrench to pull and push the lever since it is narrow, sturdy, and has 90 degree portion to pull.

Hi Mate

The car's looking great. It must be an early one cause it doesn't have the smiley elipsoids. BTW, your side indicator repeaters are on the wrong sides, unless you prefer them that way :-)

I think I drove past you last time I was down the coast. It was a few weeks ago, but you were going along seaworld drive towards the spit. I was heading the other way.

i can't remember how many weeks ago it was, but I was in my Maroon 535 at the time. I think it actually might have been in June, I can't think of any reason I've had since then to be down near the spit. I've been to the goldy a couple of times since then, but dont normally venture past peters seafoods out the back of palazo versachi (sp?)

oh righteo then. Hmmm just last weekend i went down there on the sunday and saw a maroon e34 wide grill i think.... that wasn't you then.

Yeah i hardly go down to the spit on sunday arvos, i only go very rarely and even then its boring as everyone just hangs in there own groups and snobs each other.

ArnZ, that thing looks like a million buck$.

What type of polishing machine and pads did your friend use?

And, after 20 years in the Oz sun, it reinforces my view that alpine white is probably the most durable color. The paint quality of newer BMWs is not nearly as good as this vintage, which is probably why it looks better than most newer cars.

Griot's Garage polishing machine is the best. I own one and I love it very much... It is quite affordable now compared to when they sold Porta Cable unit. I love their polishing and wax products too.

Thanks,Tiger. I priced the Porter Cable thing, and even their cheapest version was pretty spendy. Ballpark, how much does the Griot's thing cost?

My mate was just using a foam pad, i dunno what machine he was using, all i know it had variable speeds which is what you need.
