Need help with 92 525ia with 135k on the clock. The car started fine, but after two blocks the engine stalled and will not restart. Had it towed home.
Installed a new fuel pump and still no start.

Using the Peake reader, got code 1A = "Control Unit Supply". Not sure what exactly this is. Is it referring to the main relay?

Any ideas where to start?
Thanks.

I'd hazard a guess that means the ECU. The diagram in Bentleys shows that pin 18 is powered direct from B+ terminal. Seems a bit odd but may be a place to start.

Check all of the fuses in the car. Just heard about a similar problem on another E34 and it turned out to be a fuse that powers a bunch of the different relays & controllers which in turn cut the power to the fuel pump causing it to die & not start again.

Had a no start on my car and it turned out to be a blown fuse as well. Was one for the A/C blower and a few other things including part of the anti-theft system. Luckily I figured it out before I had to call for a tow. Forget if that was one of the fuses under the hood or under the rear seat.

Thanks for the reply.

I've checked all the fuses, including those under the rear seat. The only fuse blown was the #26 - lighter fuse. Replaced. Also tried a new main relay and fuel pump relay. Fuel pump is new. Still no start. It just cranks. Check battery voltage at 12.4v.

Crank position sensor - that solved a similar problem I had.

Everything checked out ok. So, went back to look at the pump, the wire harness to the pump has 12+v, pull the new pump out to check the voltage at the connection down at the pump. Turn out to be a bad connection at the neg. terminal. re did the connection and car is back on the road. The old pump is most likely still OK due to the connection going bad.
