One day I was bored and thought it be cool to have a hidden radar detector. But instead of buying a application specific remote radar detector, I thought it be possible to do the same with a normal model. I found a used cobra esd 9100 on craigslist for $10 (missing power cord).

I took the unit apart, took off the switches and soldered them onto a length of wire. so that it could be remotely accessed. Tapped into the dome light circuit for power, and added a switch on the drivers side sunvisor mirror lights panel.

the status and warning lights were also resoldered and hidden in the main dome light.

here is a brief video of the system, starting with power up, then i drive towards a radar operated door opener to demonstrate the warning.

its not the greatest quality it may help to scale the viewing window down more, better stuff coming soon.

Thanks!
If you are asking if they are illegal, no. I just think a radar detector dangeling from my windshield looks un-e34 like. that and it would go well with my upcoming plans to create a spycar out of old stefanie
