My 1995 530i M60 A/T stalled today during commute home. It stalled at freeway speed of about 70 mhr. The engine suddenly lost power and unable to accelerate, the engine was hunting and bearly stay idled. Had to limp over to the side of the freeway when the engine die. Was unable to restart the engine. It'll started but ran erratically and idle only about 400/500 rpm for a few seconds before it die. Had to tow it home.

The car have 77,000 miles on the clock. Spark plugs, fuel filter and O2 sensors were replaced at 64,000 miles. The gas tank is more than half full.

I did notice last week while replacing some of the vacuum hoses, that the large hose from the secondary air injection valve has become very soft like it has melted, was going to change it this weekend. The car ran fine all week until now.

Would a bad secondary air injection system be the cause? Where should I start looking for the fault.

The only CEL code is 1212. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

If the CPS checks out with an Ohm meter, try the fuel pump relay, main relay and then the fuel pump.

Thanks for all the replies. It is the fuel pump. I did the fuel pump test per the Bentley manual. I have 12+ volts at the pump harness and the pump is not running. Ordered new pump from BMA, will arrive on Monday.
