Hey guys,

My 1993 525it auto is making this awfull ticking noise when I step on the brakes, and it continues even after i take my foot of the brake. It doesn't make the sound when the drive train is under load. Just put new back brakes on and was hoping it was just something I forgot to tighten, not the case.

With the car jacked up with the back wheels of the ground if I grab the drive shaft where it comes out of the tail housing of the auto trans, I can rotate it back and forth and make a real clicking noise. It seems to be coming from inside the tail shaft housing.

Any thoughts, I am up a creek here.

Thanks,

Edward

P.S. also need a gas tank if anybody has a spare, I am in Ottawa.

Are you sure its not at the hubs where you were working? My backplates were rusty and had moved out over time...

I checked that, and it does soud like a rubbing noise, I am a little perplexed.

it turns out the heat shield was rubbing on the drive shaft at the back, I think it it because my subframe bushings are shot.

Thanks,

Edward
