goes on the other end of #4 in this diagram?

Negative. #8 connects to the underside of the manifold.

Not much help but mine doesnt look anything like that. Hose 3 runs to a short section of hard pipe welded to the dipstick holder. From there another short length runs via an elbow up into the hose between the maf and the throttle body.

Mine connects to the hardpipe on the dipstick too, but I don't see that connection on the website either. But you are talking about the right hose.





Not much help but mine doesnt look anything like that. Hose 3 runs to a short section of hard pipe welded to the dipstick holder. From there another short length runs via an elbow up into the hose between the maf and the throttle body.

On mine that hose is plastic. Its shaped in a bend so I'm guessing its not a bodge job. But I'd think any heat and oil resistant pipe would do the trick. You are making me feel guilty about taping up the cracks where it joins the MAF to throttle body hose now:(

Actually, I taped that area up too. In fact most of that MAF to TB boot is wrapped in tape right now. I wound up cutting off the split end of the hose and I had enough slack to connect the fresh end to the dipstick area.
