My 325isa was just about to get it's timing belt and water pump replacement repair at 120k miles. I believe these are the same motors as a 525, therefore not totally OT. The car stops running at 20mph and there are timing belt teeth peeking out of the back of the black plastic cover by the crank pulley.
Here's the question...
What is the correct procedure to diagnose this. I understand these to be interference motors and that quite possibly the valves got bent. There was also a big puddle of oil on the flatbed when the car was lowered off. It came from the back of the motor and may be a different issue hopefully. Do I pull the head in the car or pull the whole motor? Any write up links will be appreciated. I posted this question on an e30 site as well but they get weird and flaming way too fast with not much help.

You'll probably need to start looking for a replacement motor from a e30 or 89 to 90 e34

Think first job has got to be an inspection to find out where that oil came from
