Do you think it could make it ~20 miles?

3 days ago I had an intermittent low oil pressure warning...now this noise.

I wouldn't risk it. Sounds pretty bad if that's coming from inside the engine.

Hard to tell from the clip but it sounds like timing chain or oil pump chain to me. Having bent 12 valves I wouldnt recommend you start it let alone drive it till you find out whats wrong

well i got the low pressure light intermittently on the way home the other night but there was no noise (that I noticed). so ive left it in the garage for a few days and started it today (while listening for any noticeable noises and noticed the above noise.

i wanna side and say oil pump chain---that would relate to the low oil pressure light.

the thing is im about to do cash for clunkers, so im thinking of just having it towed to the new car dealer and driving it a few hundred feet up the driveway....so i dont havta several hundred fixing the car to just have to crushed a day or 2 later...thoughts and prices on an oil pump chain?

Cash for clunkers? Come on, don't even mention that.
What a waste.

Far be it from me to help you euthanize the car but that sounds like noise from the timing chain area, probably a broken plastic chain guide. Use a screwdriver like stethescope ( point to suspect noise source and handle pressed to ear) at the timing chain cover to hear if it's the chain rattling on the case.
As long as you don't go revving it high it would probably run many miles like that,.... but NOOO you are taking it to the grim reaper.

Enjoy your Prius, sucker.

To be fair this car IS already crashed. I freely (and obviously...see other threads) admit to my hatred of the idiotically conceived CARS program, BUT he bought it back and gave it practically another year of life IIRC. I'll cry for the poor engine, though. I hope he's pulled something off it lest too many good parts go to waste.
