The A537 Macclesfield to Buxton road a.k.a. the Cat and Fiddle (after the pub at the top) kills more people than any other road in the UK. This video gives you half of it - Macclesfield to the top. And it seems pretty clear the guy on the bike is a cop. As you may hear in the commentary, the police deploy helicopters to catch you speeding. Its a must if you come to the UK. Anybody reckon they can beat the cop for speed?

I went down Snake Pass faster than that in a ten year old Ford Fiesta 1L.... The fact that the brakes went on fire by the time we hit the bottom is besides the point :D

That's one of my favourite motorcycle roads, and it's less than an hour of almost-as-good riding to get there from my driveway. Reminds me I've gotta get my motorcycle back on the road...

*ahem* since when did roads become animate objects? Last time I checked inanimate objects didnt kill people :P

Sorry, pedantry I know but it's the same old chestnut the govt keeps using "lower the speed on this road becuase the road keeps killing people!" - we all know it doesnt, it's just some twunt barelling into a corner far too fast, or overtaking into the path of an oncoming bulldozer. Darwinism in action if you ask me.

While the road may be twisty and dangerous to navigate, you should be slowing down if you dont know it - so it wont catch you out.

Doesnt a later section of that pass now have average speed cameras on it?

Anyways, awesome road, but a right royal pain in the arse if you get stuck behind something!

Hmm I think the Black Spur in Victoria, Australia is better :)

These videos were shot after the Australian Bushfires that happened in February earlier this year. There's already some decent regrowth.
