Where in Australia do you buy these 2 parts cabin filters at reasonable prices? Link?
I read in AUS you pay at the dealer $144.00 AUD

I tried the translation tool and it came up with some odd phrases:
'Dysentery carved from black to break the log'
'Detachable flannel sheets'
But my favourite has got to be:
'Pull rope to hang above the steering wheel':D
As you say, enough pics to make good sense of it. Shame we cant read his other write-ups. Thanks for posting it!

There may be variations from car to car but I just found the following:
1. The guy in Taiwan doesnt appear to have any heater conduit attached to the panel where the chime lives. I do! So suggest you dont just go tugging away at that panel when you have undone the screws. Do the cowl first:
2. Lower steering column cowl is secured by 4 screws. 2 are visible in the recess for the lever. BUT you have to take the wheel off to get at the other 2
which are right at the top of the column
3. The screw that holds the yellow plastic end piece is a T20, not a X-head.
Luckily I have a T20 screwdriver but if you have the type that accepts bits, it probably wont fit down the hole!
4. You might find you dont have enough play in the wire to remove the black control box. I just (carefully) cut the cable tie that secures the loom to the bottom of the dash
5. Mine had a single piece filter which I had to bend a bit to get out. So I will be replacing it with the 2 piece.
I dont have a clutch pedal so I have got a little bit more room:)

That guy is from Thailand, not Taiwan. Good point that you mention that he has no heater. I have seen many cars in Thailand without heater, they do not need it, just cooooling.

Question: where to buy the 2 piece filter for RHD in the U.K.?
Someone from Australia was asking me, as he paid AU$ 144.00 at the dealer in Australia for the E34 in RHD version.

Understand the bit about the heater, but dont they divert any of that nice cool air onto your feet?:D
The ads I have seen are only for the 1 piece and thats useless. Will check around and post dealer/other prices for the 2 piece as soon as poss

Unable to find 2 piece microfilter so far but Ferret has given me a lead to check out. Dealer price for one piece filter part 64318350016 is £24.41 including VAT. Factors charge about the same. Unfortunately, thats for a euro spec car and isnt listed for mine which is ZA spec. So even if I got the 2 piece I still wouldnt be sure it would fit. Happy days

here the news I got:
£18.00 plus £9.00 postage to Sydney for RHD split micro filter
Author: 530i Posted on: 2009-06-03

OK, the Doctor Car Parts have informed me that a split RHD micro filter (BMW Part Nr. 64318350016) is £18.00 plus £9.00 postage to Sydney, Australia. Exchange rate at the moment is about 49P to our dollar so it works out to be about $55 to $60 AUD. Much better than the Stealer, thanks Shogun.

Those pics are the business.. I was wondering how the black plastic clip was supposed to lock, but that shows it has to go horizontal. Great- wil try.

Saw doctor car parts ebay ad:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390048907722&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123
I emailed them and asked if they sold the 2 piece filter. Their response was
'Dear whiskychaser,
Hi,
These are the only filters we supply. Sorry.
Thanks
- doctor_car'
BMW confirm part 64318350016 is a one piece filter. I have one on order so will see how many parts it is in:D
Can we clarify who 530i's supplier is?

Have no idea, have never seen a RHD filter.
530i has not yet ordered it from doctor car, that was just the info he got from them I posted before.

I bet he left out all the swear words used when doing the change over.
I've done this twice (so far) and it is NOT an easy thing to do.

The 2 piece filter is typical of how we get screwed-over here in Oz.

That's interesting. The Part Nr. 64318350016 is on my invoice from a BMW dealer and on the packaging for the two piece filter, that I have oddly kept with the old filter:)

Autohaus AZ quote 64311390836 for the one piece filter.

Cabin Air Filter/Pollen Filter
1 per car. $15.63

From the Doctor;

Hi,
The postage will be 9.00GBP and is the same filter as the BMW part number you provided.
Thanks

Picked up the microfilter 64318350016 from the dealer this morning. It looks like a one piece in a plastic frame but the give away is the bar across the centre line. The filter has 'top' marked on it and an arrow showing which way it goes in. But there isnt a nice diagram so it took me a minute or two to work out that the top half slides across to the left. Of course if I had looked at the link Shogun posted I wouldnt have been scratching my head:
http://www.meeknet.co.uk/E32/Microfilter/Index.htm
There is a stop when its about 3/4 open but if you had it that extended you probably wouldnt get it in the footwell:D So you put the top section inside the housing and raise it a bit. Then push in the bottom section. Make sure the whole lot is seated towards the back. £24.40 isnt the cheapest but the dealer is only 10 minutes away. Its made a fantastic difference to the air flow so well worth doing!
