This question comes up every once in a while, so I snaped a picture of the hood lock and how to release it from the outside.

Use a thin screw driver or rod to slip in between the hood and the grill next to the hood hinge.
Pry between the hood hinge and the hood latch to depress the lever to release the hood lock.
